Automatic Fire Alarms
Purpose
To provide a policy for the proper handling of Automatic Fire Alarms received by the Communications
Center.
Objective
To establish guidelines in order that Fire Department personnel may effectively and safely handle
responses to Automatic Fire Alarms, secure the scene and place equipment and personnel back in service as
quickly as possible. With the increasing number of automatic fire alarms being installed in homes and
businesses, it is necessary for guidelines and policies to be established.
Scope
This policy applies to all Fire Department personnel.
Responsibility
The responsibility for the enforcement of this policy rests with the Commander/Shift OIC.
