This formal method <strong>of</strong> resolution is designed so that a student may have theopportunity to be fairly and justly treated when his/her personal conduct is in question.This section does not apply to matters <strong>of</strong> academic performance, which are dealt withby the appropriate Student Promotion Committee.Procedures for Formal Resolution – Conduct InfractionsTo institute proceedings to examine any student act allegedly violating acceptablestudent conduct, the following procedures shall be followed.1. Nature <strong>of</strong> the act and related circumstances are to be reported in written detailand submitted to:a. the involved student, andb. the Associate Dean <strong>of</strong> Student Services.2. The written statement must include the name <strong>of</strong> the involved student, the nameand status <strong>of</strong> the reporting person, and the nature <strong>of</strong> the alleged act. The writtenstatement must be sent to the involved student by registered or certified mail ordelivered in person. Should a student so involved refuse or fail to accept delivery<strong>of</strong> the statement after a bona fide attempt is made to deliver, the requirement <strong>of</strong>notification will be considered to have been met.3. Should a student action be <strong>of</strong> such a nature that it is felt that he or she must berelieved <strong>of</strong> his/her right to attend <strong>Touro</strong> <strong>University</strong>, the student may betemporarily suspended from the college on recommendation <strong>of</strong> the AssociateDean <strong>of</strong> Student Services. Any temporary suspension may continue until such atime as:a. the issue in dispute is resolved, orb. the formal hearing process is completed.4. The student, after being notified <strong>of</strong> an allegation, will meet with the AssociateDean <strong>of</strong> Student Services.5. The Associate Dean <strong>of</strong> Student Services shall arrange a hearing which is to takeplace no earlier than three calendar days and no later than ten calendar daysafter the decision to proceed with the formal method has been reached.6. The hearing shall take place before a hearing committee composed <strong>of</strong>a. two regular faculty or administrative members and one alternate regularfaculty or administrative member appointed by the applicable college Deanand<strong>2011</strong> – <strong>2012</strong> COM Student Handbook
