FEDERAL WORK-STUDY PROGRAMThe purpose <strong>of</strong> the Federal Work-Study program is to stimulate and promote part-timeemployment, particularly for those with great financial need.Part-time positions available through the Federal Work-Study Program may involvework at the <strong>University</strong> or in a public or private non-pr<strong>of</strong>it organization. Students maywork no more than an average <strong>of</strong> 25 hours per week when classes are in session and upto 30 hours per week when classes are not in session. The minimum pay rate for FederalWork-Study positions at <strong>Touro</strong> <strong>University</strong> is $15.00 per hour, students are paidaccording to established payroll procedures.Eligibility for the <strong>University</strong> Work-Study Program is determined by TUC‟s FinancialAid Office.CALIFORNIA GRADUATE STATE FELLOWSHIPThe California Student Aid Commission awards approximately 500 Graduate StateFellowships annually to California residents. Candidates must plan to pursuerecognized degrees at eligible California graduate/pr<strong>of</strong>essional schools and mustdemonstrate their intent to become a college or university faculty member.This program assists with tuition and fees. Details and application forms are availablefrom the Financial Aid Office at www.tu.ed, by clicking on „Current Students‟, then„Financial Aid‟.WESTERN INTERSTATE COMMISSION FOR HIGHER EDUCATION (WICHE)WICHE scholarships are available to osteopathic medical school applicants fromArizona, Montana, New Mexico, Washington and Wyoming. These states may be ableto assist students in achieving pr<strong>of</strong>essional goals through the Western InterstateCommission for Higher Education. WICHE‟s Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Student Exchange Programenables students to enroll in out-<strong>of</strong>-state graduate/pr<strong>of</strong>essional program when thosefields <strong>of</strong> study not available at public institutions in their home state. Home states pay asupport fee to the <strong>College</strong> to help cover the cost <strong>of</strong> the student‟s education for the"normal" length <strong>of</strong> the program.Western States students are urged to apply for certification in the program by October15th <strong>of</strong> the year preceding anticipated admission.
