No organization or individual(s) may engage in any form <strong>of</strong> hazing <strong>of</strong> any studentenrolled in <strong>Touro</strong> <strong>University</strong>. Students engaged in such activities are subject tosuspension or expulsion from the <strong>University</strong>.Drug-Free Workplace & Substance Abuse Policy & ProceduresA Drug-Free Workplace and Substance Abuse Policy and Procedure have beenestablished for <strong>Touro</strong> <strong>University</strong> in order to appropriately serve the needs <strong>of</strong> faculty,staff and students. This policy has been established to implement a drug-free workplace and academic environment consistent with federal and state law, including theterms and conditions whereby employees, students, volunteers, faculty, physicians andother pr<strong>of</strong>essionals may be disciplined for violation <strong>of</strong> these policies and tested forsuspected use <strong>of</strong> an illegal drug or alcohol.These policies and procedures apply to all students <strong>of</strong> <strong>Touro</strong> <strong>University</strong> at all facilitiesoperated by the affiliated entities and any student enrolled at another academicinstitution rotating in a clinical service on the premises <strong>of</strong> a facility operated by <strong>Touro</strong><strong>University</strong>. The <strong>University</strong> reserves the right to have any student evaluated by theStudent Health Service if he/she appears to be under the influence <strong>of</strong> illegaldrugs/substance and/or alcohol which results in a diminished or impaired ability toperform usual tasks. Any student who attends a class or a clinical rotation under theinfluence <strong>of</strong> alcohol or illegal drugs/substances is subject to either immediatesuspension or probable expulsion in accordance with this policy.All students <strong>of</strong> <strong>Touro</strong> <strong>University</strong> must review the Drug Free Workplace and SubstanceAbuse Policy and Procedure, a copy <strong>of</strong> which has been provided at orientation and/orobtained at the Office <strong>of</strong> the Associate Dean <strong>of</strong> Student Services. <strong>Touro</strong> <strong>University</strong>maintains a drug-free environment consistent with the principles <strong>of</strong> the "Federal DrugFree Schools and Communities Act" and the "Drug Free Workplace Act".Sexual HarassmentSexual harassment is a form <strong>of</strong> unlawful discrimination under state and federal law. Itmay consist <strong>of</strong>: actual or threatened sexual contact which is not mutually agreeable toboth parties, continued or repeated verbal abuse <strong>of</strong> a sexual nature, and/or a threat orinsinuation that a lack <strong>of</strong> sexual submissiveness will adversely affect the victim‟semployment, academic standing or other vital circumstances.Examples <strong>of</strong> sexual harassment include but are not limited to: pressure (subtle or overt)for sexual favors accompanied by implied or overt threats concerning one‟s job, gradesor letters <strong>of</strong> recommendation; inappropriate display <strong>of</strong> sexually suggestive objects or<strong>2011</strong> – <strong>2012</strong> COM Student Handbook
