Maternity LeaveEnrolled students who become pregnant can request a maternity leave. The amount <strong>of</strong>leave time granted depends largely on the personal needs <strong>of</strong> the student and the timing<strong>of</strong> the birth within the academic program. Prior to <strong>of</strong>ficially requesting a leave, pregnantstudents should contact the Office <strong>of</strong> Student Services to discuss how a leave will affecttheir progress in the academic program and to review options open to them. A mutualdecision is reached after careful consideration is given to personal and pr<strong>of</strong>essionalcircumstances.Military LeaveTUC is committed to supporting students called to active military duty. Students calledto such duty will be considered on military leave. Students called to active duty shouldimmediately notify the Associate Dean <strong>of</strong> Student Services and provide all theirpertinent call-up papers. Students returning to <strong>Touro</strong> <strong>University</strong> from active duty willbe eligible for reinstatement as full-time <strong>Touro</strong> <strong>University</strong> students once they havenotified the Associate Dean <strong>of</strong> Student Services and have supplied any pertinentmilitary papers requested by him/her.Pre-clinical students with less than two-thirds <strong>of</strong> assignments/exams completed will beencouraged to re-start the courses once they return. Departments, however, will havethe prerogative to make special arrangements. Clinical students returning to <strong>Touro</strong><strong>University</strong> will be reinstated as closely as possible to the previous point <strong>of</strong> progress inthe clinical experience. The point <strong>of</strong> entry and order <strong>of</strong> clinical rotations for the clinicalstudent will be determined by the Associate Dean for Clinical Education. No additionaltuition will be due from students for the resumption <strong>of</strong> any "incompletes" for work thatthey started before leaving for active military duty.Tuition charges for students restarting classes or for subsequent academic semesterswill be set at the tuition rates in effect at the time the student returns from military duty.The Dean <strong>of</strong> the <strong>College</strong> will provide leadership to facilitate the re-entry <strong>of</strong> students intotheir programs as close as possible to the point at which they were called to activemilitary duty.Withdrawal PoliciesWITHDRAWAL FROM THE UNIVERSITYThe decision to withdraw from the <strong>University</strong> is a serious matter. Any student whowithdraws from a college or a program is dropped from the rolls <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong>.
