To meet the qualitative standard <strong>of</strong> Satisfactory Academic Progress, students mustmaintain a minimum cumulative GPA as set by their program. The quantitativemeasure (acceptable passing rate and maximum time-frame for completion <strong>of</strong> degree) isused to monitor progress toward degree completion. To be eligible for Title IV aid, allstudents must also be in good academic standing under current institutional policies.The measurements for satisfactory academic progress are the same or stricter than the<strong>University</strong>‟s standards for students enrolled in the same educational program who arenot receiving Title IV aid.MINIMUM CUMULATIVE GRADE-POINT AVERAGE (GPA)The minimum cumulative GPA is based on a student‟s program <strong>of</strong> study. Transfercredits will have no effect on the GPA for the purposes <strong>of</strong> financial aid satisfactoryacademic progress.Minimum cumulative grade point averages associated with each college are as follows:<strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Osteopathic</strong> <strong>Medicine</strong> 70%<strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> Pharmacy 70%<strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> Health SciencesMaster <strong>of</strong> Public Health 80%<strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> Education 80%COMPLETION RATE70% for Master <strong>of</strong> Science degree in PhysicianAssistant Studies (MSPAS) and 80% for Master <strong>of</strong>Public Health as joint degreeAll students are required to accumulate credits towards graduation and are expected tosuccessfully complete a minimum percentage <strong>of</strong> their attempted credits.All students in programs other than the <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Osteopathic</strong> <strong>Medicine</strong> mustsuccessfully complete 67% <strong>of</strong> the cumulative credit hours attempted to meet theminimum requirement.Example chart for making Satisfactory Academic ProgressUnits <strong>of</strong> attemptedenrollment14-15 units 10 units13 units 9 units12 units 8.5 units11 units 7.5 unitsMinimum Units you mustcomplete for SAP (67%)<strong>2011</strong> – <strong>2012</strong> COM Student Handbook
