9. If a student fails to appear for an examination, the proctor will notify the CourseCoordinator who will notify the Associate Dean for Preclinical Education ordesignee.EXAMINATION DECORUMAssessment <strong>of</strong> the student‟s knowledge is essential. This not only reflects what thestudent has learned, but also the quality and content <strong>of</strong> the information presented. It istherefore essential that examination decorum must be maintained at all times to ensurefairness and validity. Students are expected to maintain at all times a decorum anddemeanor that is consistent with accepted academic and pr<strong>of</strong>essional standards duringexaminations.Upon entry into the examination site, the student must place all books, notes, studyaids, coats and personal possessions on the floor well away from the examination area.No talking is allowed once an examination starts. Students are expected to uphold theCode <strong>of</strong> Responsibilities and Rights <strong>of</strong> the Students <strong>of</strong> TUC. Any student engaging indishonest acts during an examination is subject to disciplinary action.Hats/caps may not be worn during any examination except for the wearing <strong>of</strong> aheadpiece for religious reasons. Any student wearing a hat will be asked to remove it.Failure to comply with this or any other reasonable request <strong>of</strong> a proctor will result inthe immediate dismissal <strong>of</strong> the student from the examination. In such instances, thestudent will receive a zero for the examination.POSTING AND REVIEW OF GRADES FOR YEARS 1 AND 2Every effort will be made to uniformly apply the following policy to all courses givenduring the first two years:• No examination grades will be posted until the last regularly scheduled exam ina block has been given.• The course coordinator will post grades within 5 working days <strong>of</strong> theexamination as scheduled in the block.• Every effort will be made to have examinations ready for review within 3working days <strong>of</strong> the end <strong>of</strong> the exam block.• For Exam Blocks I and II: after examinations are available for review, the studentEducation Committee has 5 workings days to meet with and present appeals tothe course coordinator. A final decision will be reached and grade changes, if<strong>2011</strong> – <strong>2012</strong> COM Student Handbook
