3 72 157.5 574 60 217.5 85.55 151.56 217.5If it is determined at any time within a student‟s course <strong>of</strong> study that they will beunable to graduate within the 150% time-frame, the student will become immediatelyineligible for financial aid.COLLEGE OF OSTEOPATHIC MEDICINE PRE-CLINICAL COURSEWORKIn order to successfully pass the <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Osteopathic</strong> <strong>Medicine</strong> pre-clinical courses, astudent must maintain a minimum <strong>of</strong> 70% for the entire course and at least 70% for eachsubdiscipline. Students not meeting the 70% minimum for each subdiscipline will beeligible for Title IV aid for one repeat <strong>of</strong> the entire course, including all subdisciplinesregardless <strong>of</strong> original individual subdiscipline grades.Student CounselingEmotional disturbances may arise occasionally among students enrolled in theprograms <strong>of</strong> <strong>Touro</strong> <strong>University</strong>. These episodes are usually brief and carry a goodprognosis. Students can contact the Associate Dean <strong>of</strong> Student Services to discussoptions for counseling and to arrange for an initial interview. All aspects <strong>of</strong> mentalhealth care are strictly confidential. TUC participates in an Employee AssistanceProgram (EAP), a service that also provides acute counseling services to individualstudents.Faculty Role in Academic Advising and in the Assessment <strong>of</strong>Pr<strong>of</strong>essionalismThe faculty advisor program plays an important role at TUC. Students and faculty workvery closely together in the academic arena. This kind <strong>of</strong> educational interaction permitsstudents to get to know their teachers and vice-versa. Students should feel free tocontact their faculty advisor as frequently as necessary for advice, encouragement andsupport. At a minimum, the faculty advisor is an advocate who takes a personal interestin his/her assigned students. Faculty advisors do assume a pro-active role, however,and become involved with their students when performance levels fail to meetminimum academic and pr<strong>of</strong>essional standards.The protocol for the advising program is as follows:<strong>2011</strong> – <strong>2012</strong> COM Student Handbook
