To be familiar with this code and the bylaws regulated.To meet the requirements of the Code of Responsibilities and Rights of the Students ofTouro University‟s degree programs.To work toward better relations with the general public on behalf of all programs ofTUC and their respective profession.To help promote excellence in education, patient oriented health care, and communityservices as provided by the university.To exhibit personally the highest ethical and professional performance and to workwith others to promote similar performance among fellow students and alumni.To serve on any university committees to which appointed with the understanding thatsuch appointment requires accurate representation of the opinions of the entire studentbody of the committee.To maintain good academic standing (i.e., not on academic probation) to be eligible tohold elected positions in their classes, colleges or organizations, to maintain universitycommittee appointments, or travel on behalf of student organizations representing theUniversity.Student RightsEvery student shall have the following rights:a. To pursue to completion the students‟ chosen degree program, contingent uponsatisfactory completion of requirements of the college. Commensurate with thestudents‟ pursuit of their degree program shall be the following rights:b. to be informed of academic progress.c. To be notified of individual departmental course requirements as well asrequirements for the chosen degree program. Each student is entitled to astatement of goals and objectives, evaluation techniques and schedules for eachcourse, clinic and clerkship.d. To be informed by the university of any and all its regulations and policiesaffecting student status. Any change in existing policy or institution of newpolicy shall be implemented when practical only after publication. Suchpublication shall be so calculated to give students time to react and comply.2011 – 2012 COM Student Handbook

To examine, seek corrections of, or prevent disclosure of personally identifiableinformation from more fully set forth in the Guidelines for Access to andDisclosure of Educational Records Maintained by Touro University, adopted bythe university pursuant to the Family Education Right to Privacy Act of 1974.f. To exercise academic freedom as defined above.g. To receive a copy of this code and to be notified in writing by the "SGA" and theUniversity about regulations promulgated or amended under this code.h. To seek membership in any recognized student organization for which applicantmeets membership criteria.i. To petition the SGA for recognition of any student group which (1) furthers thegoal of the institution, and (2) meets the requirements for recognition as astudent organization established by the SGA and administration. Recognizedorganizations shall have the right to meet in university facilities subject touniversity space coordination and scheduling. Requests for utilization ofuniversity space must be reasonable and cannot interfere with the primaryeducational goals of the university.j. To be represented in the determination of university or college policy as itdirectly affects a student‟s educational endeavor. There shall be studentrepresentation to the extent of at least one voting member on the followingcollege standing committees: Admissions Committee, Curriculum Committee,Financial Aid Committee, Library Committee, Food Services Committee andStudent Life Committee and the various class Liaison Committees. Students mayserve on ad hoc and other college or program committees, such as the Self-StudyCommittee, or such committees as may be deemed appropriate. Studentappointment to the standing committees shall be made by the SGA.k. Appointment of students as student representatives to any committee or groupother than the above named standing committees shall be made by the SGA.Students on standing committees shall be appointed for the same term as facultymembers. Substitutes for student committee members may not be sent withoutprior approval of the committee chairman involved. At any time that acommittee deems appropriate, it may seek additional students to serve asresources.l.
