The Department’s objectives are to prepare professionals for:1. Additional study toward the Ed.D./Ph.D. degree.2. Service in urban, multicultural environments.3. Managing wellness and health-related fitness programs.4. Various coaching fields.ADMISSION CRITERIAIn additional to the general requir<strong>em</strong>ents for admission to the <strong>Graduate</strong> School (see general information section of this bulletin),applicants for admission to graduate standing in Health and Kinesiology are expected to present evidence of havingcompleted the following:1. A minimum of twenty-one (21) s<strong>em</strong>ester credit hours in undergraduate health or physical education and relatedcourses approved by the Department.2. A course in Anatomy and Physiology.DEGREE REQUIREMENTSMaster of Science in Health Education1. Satisfactory performance on the qualifying examination, if applicable.2. Completion of total of thirty-six (36) s<strong>em</strong>ester credit hours of graduate courses (500 level or above); a minimum oftwenty-four (24) of these credit hours must be Health, six (6) s<strong>em</strong>ester credit hours of professional development,and six (6) s<strong>em</strong>ester credit hours in a resource area which may be taken in related disciplines, such as Public Affairs,Psychology, Sociology, Child Development, or Physical Education.3. Successful completion of the Health Education Comprehensive Examination prior to graduation from the prescribedcourse of study.4. Fulfillment of general requir<strong>em</strong>ents for graduation as outlined by the <strong>Graduate</strong> School.
