The student may find that some or all of the credits earned as a specialstudent may not count toward the degree sought.SENIORS IN GRADUATE COURSESA senior at <strong>Texas</strong> <strong>Southern</strong> <strong>University</strong> who has d<strong>em</strong>onstrated superior scholastic ability and who needs less than ten s<strong>em</strong>esterhours to complete the bachelor’s degree, may be permitted to take graduate courses. Requests from seniors for permissionto take graduate courses must be approved by the head of the major department, the dean of the undergraduate college,and the Dean of the <strong>Graduate</strong> School.Permission to take graduate courses during the senior year does not constitute admission to the <strong>Graduate</strong> School. Moreover,such credits may not be applied toward fulfillment of the residence requir<strong>em</strong>ent for the master’s degree. Not more than six(6) s<strong>em</strong>ester hours of graduate course work may be taken by seniors.READMISSIONA student who discontinues matriculation in the <strong>Graduate</strong> School for one or more s<strong>em</strong>esters must apply for re-admission.The evaluation of applications for re-admission will be based on <strong>University</strong> and specific program admission requir<strong>em</strong>entsin existence at the time of the re-admission application.CRITERIA FOR ADMISSIONTO MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMSUNCONDITIONAL ADMISSIONFor unconditional admission to the <strong>Graduate</strong> School as a Degree Applicant, the applicant must meet all of the followingconditions:1. Graduation with the bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, from an accredited college or university. An example ofthe “equivalent,” as indicated above may be an international student who has graduated from a college or universitythat issues a diploma or certificate instead of a degree.2. A satisfactory undergraduate sequence of courses in the proposed major.3. A grade point average in all undergraduate work of 2.50 (C+ ) or better or a grade point average of 3.0 on thelast 60 s<strong>em</strong>ester hours of undergraduate course work.4. A score on the aptitude section of the <strong>Graduate</strong> Record Examination that will be used in conjunction with otheradmission factors.5. A score of at least 500 on the TOEFL, if the applicant is an international student.CONDITIONAL ADMISSIONConditional admission to master’s degree programs may be permitted for those applicants who do not satisfy all of therequir<strong>em</strong>ents for unconditional admission. Final disposition of cases involving students who have been admitted on conditionrests with the Committee on Admissions and the Dean of the <strong>Graduate</strong> School.24CRITERIA FOR ADMISSIONTO SPECIFIC DEGREE PROGRAMSMaster of Business Administration (MBA) ProgramAdmission to the MBA program as a conditional or an unconditional student requires a baccalaureate degree from a regionallyaccredited institution.Unconditional Admission: The applicant must submit a <strong>Graduate</strong> Manag<strong>em</strong>ent Aptitude Test (GMAT) score that willbe used in conjunction with the applicant’s socioeconomic profile and the undergraduate grade point average to determineadmission to graduate programs. The following are some factors that may be included in the socioeconomic profile usedin the admission process.a. Economic status of family when applicant was in el<strong>em</strong>entary, secondary, and undergraduate school.b. Applicant was first generation to attend undergraduate school.
