In such cases, conditional admission maybe granted pending r<strong>em</strong>oval of all deficiencies.CURRICULUMThe curriculum for the Master of Science in Industrial Technology degree consists of 33 s<strong>em</strong>ester credit hours of approvedgraduate courses, including 16 hours of core curriculum, 6 hours of integrative component, 6 hours of program electivesand no more than 6 hours of other elective courses. The program offers two options: thesis and non-thesis. The thesis optionrequires 27 hours of course work and 6 hours of thesis. The non-thesis option involves 30 hours of courses and 3 hours ofan approved internship in a non-acad<strong>em</strong>ic setting. Students who show evidence of significant and relevant technical workexperience may request a waiver of the internship requir<strong>em</strong>ent.Each student is responsible for preparing a degree plan in consultation with the program advisor, and obtaining requiredapprovals, during the first s<strong>em</strong>ester of enrollment. The degree plan indicates chosen program option (thesis or internship),as well as courses to be completed for the degree. Students are however, encouraged to select courses that compl<strong>em</strong>ent their primary field of study.Consultation with the program advisor is recommended.DEGREE REQUIREMENTSIn addition to the requir<strong>em</strong>ents of the <strong>Graduate</strong> School, candidates for the Master of Science in Industrial Technology mustcomplete the 36 credit-hour curriculum prescribed on the student’s approved degree plan with a grade point average of 3.0 orbetter, successfully complete the comprehensive examination, and complete and submit to the department chair two boundcopies of a duly approved thesis or internship report.The comprehensive examination may be att<strong>em</strong>pted only upon completion of eighteen (18) s<strong>em</strong>ester credit hours ofcore-curriculum courses, and internships or thesis may be started only after successfully completing the comprehensiveexamination. It is the responsibility of each candidate for the degree to show evidence of having satisfactorily completedthese requir<strong>em</strong>ents prior to the filing of an application for graduation with the <strong>Graduate</strong> School.59
