STATUS FunctionThe STATUS function returns the single status character of the previous command: S = Success, E = Error.Successful execution of the following commands leave the previous command status intact: CONTINUE,EXIT, GOTO, QUIT, and TEXT. This gives the user the ability to position within a script (for example, to anerror processing section) without clearing the status from previous failures. If any of these commands fail, anerror status is set. A status return specified by EXIT or QUIT (for example, EXIT ERROR) will overrideprevious command status. The status returned from a LOCAL or REMOTE command is the result of the <strong>NetEx</strong>/eFT LOCAL orREMOTE command and not the completion code set by the resulting host command. To check the status ofthe host command, use the variables {status:local} or {status:remote}. If LOCAL or REMOTE commandexecution is not supported on the requested host, the status() function will be set to ‘E’.Format:Examples:status()To display the output of the status function:eFT> text {status()}eFT: STo display the status of the last command:eFT> text Last Command {eqs(status(),"S","Succeeded","Failed")}eFT: Last Command SucceededDefine the input prompt to signal a message when an error has occurred:eFT> set input prompt {} {nes(status(),"S","Error ")}eFT>With the above definition, issue an invalid command and then a valid command to test the new prompt:eFT> oopseFT: Invalid command 'oops' (UA-4708).Error eFT> text Correct the PrompteFT: Correct the PrompteFT>Page 86 Advanced Local User’s Guide REF-eFT213-R<strong>5.4</strong>-08
