Appendix B. NetEx/eFT Error Messagesfor IBM z/OSThis appendix is intended to give users more information about NetEx/eFT messages that may be seen duringa session. All of the NetEx/eFT messages have been listed along with details describing them. Many of themessages are self explanatory (e.g., “Invalid command”) and require no further discussion. At the end of thismessage table is a list and description of the messages that require further explanation.It should be noted that the NetEx/eFT messaging scheme is designed to generate various levels of messageswhich is why a single erroneous condition may result in two or more messages. Each level of message that isdisplayed (from first to last), is designed to be slightly more specific than the message preceding it. All of themessages that are displayed should be considered when attempting to diagnose an error condition.Below is a break down of each column of the message table along with a description of the entries that mayappear under it.FacCodeSevCommentTextThe FACility or subsystem name that generated the message. This will be UA (NetEx/eFThost independent message), EFT213 (NetEx/eFT eFT213 IBM z/OS host dependent message),MUX (NetEx/eFT Multiplex Server), or MUX213 (NetEx/eFT eFT213 IBM z/OSMUX Server). If a message contains a UAxx3, MUXxx3, or some facility other than these(e.g., UA263 or SI), this message must be looked up in the appropriate NetEx/eFT manual forthat host (e.g., Hxx3 NetEx/eFT).The unique error or message code.A single character severity level indicator. The possible values are S (Success), I (Information),W (Warning), E (Error), or F (Fatal).A comma-separated list of zero to five special characters giving more details about the message.If no Comment characters are given, the message (along with accompanying messages),is intended to be self-explanatory. The possible Comment characters are:ADHNRAn additional description of the message is given at the end of the message table.Diagnostic or Internal error. These errors are very unlikely to occur and may indicatea more severe problem is at hand or that some unexpected internal condition occurred.The user should refer to accompanying messages, if displayed, for a furtherexplanation of the problem. These messages should be logged and reported to thesystem administrator.Host specific messages will accompany these messages. The host specific messagesshould provide additional information as to the cause of the condition.Network related message. The user should refer to the appropriate NetEx or systemdocumentation for a further explanation of the problem. These messages should belogged and reported to the system administrator unless it is obvious that the networkcondition is temporary and for a known reason. These messages could possibly be asign of a network interruption of some kind.Retriable error condition. The command used to generate this error can be retried atsome later time without fear of a fatal condition occurring.The message text.
