Table 1. z/OS File Transfer Qualifiers and Default ValuesQualifier-FLOW (BOOLEAN)-KEEPBLanks (BOOLEAN)DescriptionThis qualifier indicates whether or not NetEx/eFT should enable filetransfer flow control. When FLOW is on, every block to be transferredmust be requested by the receiving host. The sender sends ablock only when the receiver is ready for one. FLOW exists to preventunusual read timeouts during file transfers that can be caused, for example,by an interactive/selective restore from an archive file. Waitingfor an operator to load a tape is another example of when FLOW maybe required. Because each block must be requested by the NetEx/eFTreceiver, a significant penalty in performance is paid when FLOW isenabled. The default is OFF.This qualifier allows the user to turn on or off automatic deletion ofblank (EBCDIC x’40’) characters from the end of fixed length records. This qualifier only applied to MVS data sets with fixed length recordswhich are transferred using “-MODE CHARACTER” or “-MODEV1CHAR”.The default is OFF. The minimum spelling is –KEEPBL.Page 44 File Handling Under IBM z/OS NetEx/eFT REF-eFT213-R5.4-08
