For more information on the REMOTE command, refer to “Command Descriptions” on page 115 of thismanual. For more information on the TSO/E command set, refer to the IBM documentation.Issuing Remote IBM z/OS Host Independent CommandsAlthough executing TSO/E commands from a remote system may be very useful, many times remote usersare not familiar with the TSO/E command set. Therefore, NetEx/eFT makes a set of Host Independent Commandsavailable for all users around the network to use, without requiring them to learn each host’s commandset. These commands are implemented as remote aliases. To display the list of host independent commandsdefined for IBM z/OS NetEx/eFT, issue the SHOW REMOTE ALIAS command:eFT> show remote aliaseFT:eFT: CANcel ............ (TYPE)WHO is not available for MVSeFT:The host independent commands are in the left column and the TSO/E command translations are in the rightcolumn. Users can issue host independent commands as if they were commands native to TSO/E. NetEx/eFTtakes care of the translation. Notice that a couple of the commands DIFFERENCE and WHO are simplymapped to a special keyword ‘(TYPE)’ with the message “xxx is not available for z/OS”. If the user was toinvoke one of these commands, NetEx/eFT, upon seeing ‘(TYPE)’, would display the message. These hostindependent commands have no equivalent TSO/E translation.Below is a list of all standard z/OS host independent commands along with a description of how they areused. From a local NetEx/eFT Initiator, any of these commands can be invoked on a remote z/OS system bymeans of the REMOTE command.CANcelCOPYcancel or halt processing of a previously submitted batch job. The user must have authorizationfrom installation management to use CANCEL. Use the QUEUE alias to display the statusof batch jobs. CANCEL is mapped to the TSO/E CANCEL command. The format is:CANCEL jobname[(jobid)]copy an z/OS data set (file) to another data set (file). The source data set must be a sequentialdata set or a member of a partitioned data set with either fixed or variable length records. Thedestination data set, if it exists, must also be sequential or a member of a partitioned data setwith either fixed or variable length records. COPY is mapped to the TSO/E SMCOPY command. The format is:COPY src_data_set[(member)] dest_data_set[(member)]Page 38 IBM z/OS Remote User’s Guide REF-eFT213-R5.4-08
