Table 1. z/OS File Transfer Qualifiers and Default ValuesQualifier-CHEcksum (BOOLEAN)-COMPress (BOOLEAN)-CRC (BOOLEAN)-CREate (STRING)DescriptionThis qualifier indicates whether or not NetEx/eFT should perform achecksum as part of the file transfer. This provides an alternative tothe full Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) support provided by the “-CRC” qualifier. This optimized checksum algorithm provides additionalCPU utilization savings over the optimized CRC algorithm. If both CHECKSUM and CRC are enabled, only CRC processing willbe performed. The default value is OFF. The minimum spelling is –CHE.This qualifier specifies whether data compression should be performedduring file transfer. Refer to the -METHod qualifier for availablecompression types. The default is OFF. The minimum spelling is –COMP.This qualifier indicates whether or not NetEx/eFT should perform achecksum as part of the file transfer. When CRC is enabled a 32-bitCRC is calculated by the source host along with a block sequencenumber. These are verified by the destination host.If both CHECKSUM and CRC are enabled, only CRC processing willbe performed. The default value is OFF.This qualifier indicates to the destination z/OS host how to create thenew data set. The available options are:NEW - which means if a data set or member of a data set by the samename already exists, do not overwrite it.REPLACE - will overwrite an existing data set or member of the samename or create a new one.DELETE - similar to REPLACE. But it will delete an existing dataset, then create a new one using the file transfer qualifiers to generatenew data set attributes.APPEND - appends the source file to the destination data set if it exists,or creates a new one.DELETE and APPEND are only valid when writing to a sequentialdata set.The default is NEW. The minimum spelling is -CRE.When TAPE is specified and a -volser is specified then -create replacemust be specified. Otherwise, when a -volser is not specified then -create new, replace, or delete can be specified.Page 42 File Handling Under IBM z/OS NetEx/eFT REF-eFT213-R5.4-08
