It must be usedin conjunction with the “-COMPress” and/or “-EXPand” qualifiers.This value can be set to either LZW or RLE. LZW specifies Lempel-Ziv-Welch compression, and RLE specifies run-length-encoding. Thedefault method is LZW.The minimum spelling is –METH.This qualifier specifies the current file transfer mode. <strong>NetEx</strong>/eFT forIBM z/OS supports the following modes: CHARACTER, STREAM,RECORD, BACKUP, RESTORE, V1CHAR, and COPY. The valueof MODE is used internally by <strong>NetEx</strong>/eFT to decide how to access orcreate the files being transferred. A mode must be supported by bothhosts in order to have a successful transfer. For more information ontransfer modes, refer to “Transfer Modes Supported Under IBM z/OS<strong>NetEx</strong>/eFT” on page 56.The default is CHARACTER. The minimum spelling is -MOD.This qualifier specifies that records of length greater than the networkblock size can be transferred.The default is ON. The minimum spelling is -PART.This qualifier allows a new data set to be created as a PDS/E instead ofa PDS. This qualifiers is ignored for sequential data sets.The default is OFF.This qualifier tells <strong>NetEx</strong>/eFT whether or not to display informationalmessages during file transfer. This value should be set to either ON orOFF.The default is OFF. The minimum spelling is -QUI.This qualifier indicates whether or not to wait for the recall of a migratedor archived data set before sending the data set. A destinationdata set is always recalled before overwriting.The default is OFF.This qualifier specifies the format and the characteristics of the recordsin a data set to be created. A user can create a data set with a format offixed (F), variable (V), or undefined (U). One can also add characteristicssuch as blocked (e.g., FB), spanned (e.g., VS), blocked withANSI control characters (e.g., FBA), or blocked with machine codecontrol characters (e.g., VBM).The default is variable blocked (VB).
