Table 1. z/OS File Transfer Qualifiers and Default ValuesQualifier-SPAce (STRING)-STATistics (BOOLEAN)-TAB (BOOLEAN)-UNIT (STRING)-VOLUME (STRING)DescriptionThis qualifier specifies the number of bytes of space to be allocated fora new data set.Append a ‘K’ to the number to represent kilobytes or an ‘M’ to representmegabytes. For example, to allocate 2 megabytes of space for adata set, declare bytes as -SPACE 2M.A SPACE value MUST be declared unless the sending host internallyprovides an estimate of the file size to z/OS. Some systems such asVAX/VMS, UNIX or PC-DOS have this ability. If the source file isbeing sent from another z/OS host, the user must specify a SPACEvalue since IBM z/OS NetEx/eFT does not internally provide the filesize.Preceding the bytes value with an asterisk (*) causes the bytes value tobe used only if the sending host did not provide an estimate of the filesize. Specifying a byte value without an asterisk always overrides thesending host’s estimate. The default is *16K. The minimum spelling is -SPA.This qualifier causes NetEx/eFT to create ISPF statistics after writing anew or replaced MVS partitioned data set (PDS) member. The default value is ON. The minimum spelling is –STAT.This qualifier causes TAB characters (EBCDIC x’05’ or ASCII x’09’)to be expanded to the next tab expansion column. TAB expansion isonly active when “-MODe CHAracter” is specified. This qualifier tells NetEx/eFT to create the destination data set on aspecific device, or a certain type or group of devices. The UNIT qualifiermust be a 1 to 8 character alphanumeric string including nationalcharacters ($, #, or @ in the United States). If no unit name is specified, the unit name from the TSO/E user’s profile is used. When TAPE is specified and a -VOLSER is specified then -CREATEREPLACE must be specified. Otherwise, when a -VOLSER is notspecified then -CREATE NEW, REPLACE, or DELETE can be specified. This qualifier tells NetEx/eFT to create the destination data set on aspecific volume. The VOLUME qualifier must be a 1 to 6 characteralphanumeric string including national characters ($, #, or @ in theUnited States). There is no default VOLUME name. When TAPE is specified and a -VOLSER is specified then -CREATEREPLACE must be specified. Otherwise, when a -VOLSER is notspecified then -CREATE NEW, REPLACE, or DELETE can be specified.REF-eFT213-R5.4-08 File Handling Under IBM z/OS NetEx/eFT Page 49
