Notice that a couple of the commands DIFFERENCE and WHO aresimply mapped to a special keyword ‘(TYPE)’ with the message “xxx is not available for z/OS”. If the userwas to invoke one of these commands, NetEx/eFT, upon seeing ‘(TYPE)’, would display the message. Thesehost independent commands have no equivalent TSO/E translation.Below is a list of all standard z/OS host independent commands along with a description of how they areused. From a local NetEx/eFT Initiator, any of these commands can be invoked on a remote z/OS system bymeans of the LOCAL command.BRowseThis alias can be used if eFT was invoked from ISPF. This alias will ISPF BROWSE the remotefile specified.CANcelCOPYDELetecancel or halt processing of a previously submitted batch job. The user must have authorizationfrom installation management to use CANCEL. Use the QUEUE alias to display the statusof batch jobs. CANCEL is mapped to the TSO/E CANCEL command. The format is:CANCEL jobname[(jobid)]copy an z/OS data set (file) to another data set (file). The source data set must be a sequentialdata set or a member of a partitioned data set with either fixed or variable length records. Thedestination data set, if it exists, must also be sequential or a member of a partitioned data setwith either fixed or variable length records. COPY is mapped to the TSO/E SMCOPY command.The format is:COPY src_data_set[(member)] dest_data_set[(member)]delete one or more data sets or a member of a partitioned data set on the z/OS host. An asteriskcan be inserted into the data set name to select entries having similar names. Only one asteriskper data set name may be used and it cannot appear in the first position. DIFferenceDIRectoryEDITHELPISPFThere is no support for this command under z/OS TSO/E.display a listing of data sets from a catalog. By default, DIRECTORY, lists the data sets withthe current TSO/E prefix. DIRECTORY is mapped to the TSO/E LISTCAT command. Theformat is:DIRECTORY [LEVEL(data_set_level)]can be used if eFT was invoked from ISPF. This alias will ISPF EDIT the remote file specified.obtain help on an z/OS TSO/E function, command, subcommand, etc. HELP is mapped to theTSO/E HELP command. The format is:HELP [TSO/E_topic]is not for general use. This alias exists to facilitate a separate eFT feature.MEMbersPRIntQUEueRENameSTAtusSUBmitTYPeWHOused to obtain a list of members in a remote z/OS PDS or PDSe by using the TSO LISTDScommand.MEMBERS pds_dataset_nameformat and print a data set on any printer defined to the z/OS Job Entry System (JES). PRINTis mapped to the TSO/E PRINTDS command. The format is:PRINT data_set[(member)] [CLASS(class)][DEST(destination)]display the current status of the user's batch jobs. QUEUE is mapped to the TSO/E STATUScommand. The format is:QUEUE [jobname[(jobid)]]change the name of a cataloged data set or member of a partitioned data set. RENAME ismapped to the TSO/E RENAME command. The format is:RENAME old_data_set[(oldmem)] new_data_set[(newmem)]If a member name is used, the old_data_set and the new_data_set must be the same.generally, the host independent command STATUS is used to display current activity on aparticular host. Since TSO/E already supports a STATUS command (which displays batchjob status), this command is not redefined by NetEx/eFT.submit an existing z/OS data set for background (batch job) processing. Users must be authorizedby installation management to use SUBMIT. SUBMIT is mapped to the TSO/ESUBMIT command. The format is:SUBMIT data_set[(member)]type out the contents of an existing z/OS data set or member of a partitioned data set. TYPEis mapped to a TSO/E CLIST called %EFTTYPE. The format is:TYPE data_set[(member)]There is no support for this command under TSO/E.The following is an example of a LOCAL command that invokes a host independent command calledQUEUE.
