Schedule 1 The <strong>Criminal</strong> <strong>Code</strong>Part 8 ProcedureChapter 67 Appeal—pardon[s 671H]any part of the sentence already served by the personshall be taken into account.671H Duties of registrar(1) The registrar shall take all necessary steps for obtaining ahearing of any appeals or applications, notice of which isgiven to the registrar, and shall obtain and lay before theCourt in proper form all documents, exhibits, and other thingsrelating to the proceedings in the court of trial which appearnecessary for the proper determination of the appeal orapplication.(2) If it appears to the registrar that any notice of appeal or ofapplication for leave to appeal against a conviction orsentence does not show any substantial ground of appeal, theregistrar may refer the appeal to the Court for summarydetermination; and the Court may thereupon, if it considersthat the appeal is frivolous or vexatious, dismiss the appealsummarily without calling upon any person to attend thehearing.(3) The registrar shall furnish the necessary forms andinstructions in relation to notices of appeals or notices ofapplication to any person who demands the same, and toofficers of courts, the chief executive (corrective services),and to such other officers or persons as the registrar thinks fit,and the chief executive (corrective services) shall cause suchforms and instructions to be placed at the disposal of prisonersdesiring to appeal or to make any application, and shall causeany such notice given by a prisoner for whom the chiefexecutive (corrective services) has responsibility to beforwarded on behalf of the prisoner to the registrar.671JDocuments, exhibits etc.Any documents, exhibits, or other things connected with anyproceedings before a court of trial, in respect of which anyperson is entitled or may be authorised to appeal, shall be keptin the custody of the court of trial for such time as may bePage 442 Current as at 1 December 2014
