DPNSS 1-Specific Supplementary ServicesDPNSS 1-Specific Supplementary ServicesThe Omvia Media Server supports Sections 0 through Section 6 (simpletelephone call) of British Telecom specification BTNR 188. In addition,it supports the supplementary services explained below:Executive Intrusion (BTNR 188 Section 10 Issue 5 December 1989)Executive Intrusion offers users of selected extensions whoencounter a busy condition the possibility of intruding on theestablished conversation. As an option, the intruding party maywithdraw from the intrusion without clearing down.Three-Party Service–Transfer After Inquiry Using a New Path (BTNR188 Section 13 Issue 4 December 1993)The Three-Party Supplementary Service permits the Omvia MediaServer to make a call to a third party while holding an existing call<strong>and</strong> connects the other two parties within the end PBX. It thenreleases the two channels to the Omvia Media Server which in effecttransfers the call. The Hold Supplementary Service (BTNR 188Section 12) as well as the Route Optimization SupplementaryService (BTNR 188 Section 19) are used in conjunction with thisservice.Non-Specified Information (BTNR 188 Section 15 Issue 4 December1989)The Non-Specified Information (NSI) supplementary servicepermits a network to exploit the DPNSS 1 signaling scheme toimplement network-dependent features <strong>and</strong> functions.Some PBX vendors provide control of Message Waiting Indicator(MWI) lights for Voice Messaging Systems (VMS) using thisservice. <strong>Intervoice</strong>’s implementation of DPNSS 1 defaults to theNortel DMS 100 E format <strong>and</strong> allows the application the ability toturn the MWI lights on <strong>and</strong> off.
