National ISDN-2 OverviewNational ISDN-2 adheres to the ITU-T Q.931 standard for basic callcontrol. Its main difference is the addition of service messages fornotification of changes in the remote end status. Service messages arealso used to take individual channels and spans into or out of service.Several vendors have how adopted National ISDN-2, and it is nowwidely available in North America. Several vendors have implementedcustom call transfer options and supllemental services on theirequipment.National ISDN-2 ConfigurationTable 12-1 lists the filenames, directories, and descriptions of themodules defining the National ISDN-2 protocol.Table 12-1. National ISDN-2 ConfigurationDefining intvconf.datThe intvconf.dat file is the main configuration file in an Intervoicesystem. It contains a variety of parameters: some are standard for allconfigurations; others must be changed to match the particular systemconfiguration.A sample configuration file, intvconf.org, is located in the intv/cfgdirectory.To define the intvconf.org file as intvconf.dat, follow these steps:For more information onconfiguring intvconf.dat.see the StandardConfiguration File Guide(PCI).1 In a text editor, open the intvconf.org file located in the intv/cfgdirectory.2 Make changes and save the file as intvconf.dat.3 Exit the text editor..dat ExtensionVerify that the file is saved with the .dat extension. Sometext editors automatically attach a .txt extension, so thename of the saved file becomes intvconf.dat.txt.
