Message Waiting IndicatorA Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) is a light on a telephone set usedto inform the owner that they have incoming messages waiting for themin their voicemail box. It can be turned on and off by placing a virtualcall to a specified number and including a Non-Specified Information(NSI) SIS identifier.The identifier contains one default DPNSS 1 parameter (NN), and asecond parameter (set by Intervoice) that identifies whether the MWIindicator is on or off.The settings are shown below:• 0 – MWI OFF• 1 – MWI ONThe following toolkit calls are available for setting the Message WaitingIndicator (MWI) in an InVision application:• ISDN_DPNS_ACTIVATE_MWI (see page 6-67)• ISDN_DPNS_DEACTIVATE_MWI (see page 6-69)6-66 ISDN Protocol Administrator’s and Developer’s Guide 60001262, First Edition
Defining the DPNSS 1 SubroutinesISDN_DPNS_ACTIVATE_MWIUse the ISDN_DPNS_ACTIVATE_MWI subroutine to send an ISRMCmessage that contains a Non-Specified Information (NSI) SIS identifier.The Non-Specified Information (NSI) SIS identifier contains twoparameters:• NN (a DPNSS 1 default parameter)• 1 (an Intervoice-defined parameter)The default parameter turns on the Message Waiting Indicator (MWI).The Intervoice-defined parameter is a destination address (DA) that waspassed from the MWI_ADDRESS parameter in this subroutine form.A sample UserSubroutineCall form that callsISDN_DPNS_ACTIVATE_MWI is shown below.60001262, First Edition DPNSS 1 Protocol 6-67
