Family Violence Investigations Where Injuries Were ReportedIn New Zealand during 2011, injuries were <strong>report</strong>ed in 16.3% of Police family violenceinvestigations. The most common injuries <strong>report</strong>ed were minor bruising (9.5%), cuts (3.4%)and serious bruising (1.2%). In 893 cases (1.0%) a hospital attendance was required, andin 20 cases (0.02%) the incident resulted in a death (Table 87, Figure 128).Figure 128. While not all family violence investigations identified an offence and someinvestigations identified more than one offence, the nature of the offences disclosed givessome indication as to the types of incidents occurring. In this context, a very highproportion of the offences related to assaults, with property damage, breach of violenceorders, and threatening behaviour also making a significant contribution (Table 88).Table 88.
