Cricket demand116. It is difficult to assess exactly how many people participate in cricket in <strong>Stoke</strong>on-Trentbecause of the flow of residents over the borders to nearby cricketclubs. The survey undertaken of teams in 2007/08 suggested that the splitbetween the number of teams playing within <strong>Stoke</strong>-on-Trent, and the totalnumber from <strong>Stoke</strong>-on-Trent and its surrounds were:<strong>Stoke</strong>-on-Trentplus itssurroundsNumber of teamsClubs and teamsplaying in the CityJunior cricket - boys 11-17yrs 48 18Junior cricket - girls 11-17yrs 0 0Men’s cricket 18-55yrs 55 31Women’s cricket 18-55yrs 3 1106 50117. As can be seen from this table, about half of the participation may be at sitesoutside the City – but without very detailed membership statistics from eachclub exact participation rates are impossible to determine.118. In order to compare the 2002/03 participation rate with the current one, thesame clubs have been assessed in order to compare the old TGR rate andthe new one.
