encouraging greater self provision. This was followed by a series <strong>of</strong> documents: - "Principles<br />

into Practice, Cm.4101; "The Gateway to Work", Cm.4102; "Support for Disabled People",<br />

Cm.4103; <strong>and</strong> "Partnership in Pensions", Cm.4179, which proposed a framework for<br />

stakeholder pension schemes; reform <strong>of</strong> the state earnings related pensions scheme (SERPS);<br />

strengthening the framework for occupational pension schemes; <strong>and</strong> increasing the level <strong>of</strong><br />
