Phase 1: Project Set-up <strong>and</strong> Kick-<strong>of</strong>fThis phase involved:• An initial kick <strong>of</strong>f meeting with Comhairle• Conducting a first workshop with Comhairle to:• <strong>Review</strong>, refine <strong>and</strong> agree the specifics <strong>of</strong> the proposed consultation process• Discuss <strong>and</strong> agree a “straw-man” to guide the design <strong>of</strong> the future SLI servicePhase 2: Desk <strong>and</strong> internet researchThis phase involved:• Conducting desk <strong>and</strong> internet research in SLI to ensure Prospectus wereabreast <strong>of</strong> the most up-to-date <strong>and</strong> relevant thinking in the field• <strong>Review</strong>ing relevant background information (identified during Phase 1):– Sourcing <strong>and</strong> reading documents, articles, books, journals, publications etc.relevant to SLI services in Irel<strong>and</strong>– Internet searches - visiting websites <strong>and</strong> gathering data– Meetings <strong>and</strong> telephone calls - contacting specific people/organisations forfurther information or for validation <strong>of</strong> informationPhase 3: International best practiceDuring this phase the Prospectus team:• Conducted targeted research on international best practice in SLI, building onthe review <strong>of</strong> international SLI models described in the SIA Group report onIrish <strong>Sign</strong> Link– Research focused on five countries; three <strong>of</strong> these were regarded as theprimary focus (Scotl<strong>and</strong>, Denmark <strong>and</strong> New Zeal<strong>and</strong>) <strong>and</strong> two as asecondary focus (Finl<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> Engl<strong>and</strong>)– The application <strong>and</strong> implications <strong>of</strong> technology were a key part <strong>of</strong> this review<strong>of</strong> international best practice• Conducted two expert interviews with people who are knowledgeable about,<strong>and</strong> have significant experience in, the application <strong>of</strong> technology in SLIPhase 4: Consultation processDuring this phase Prospectus:• Organised the consultation process (participants, logistics, materials, etc.)• Prepared for, conducted <strong>and</strong> documented 3 workshops with Deaf people– 2 workshops with the Deaf Community in Dublin– 1 workshop with the Deaf Community in Limerick• Prepared for, conducted <strong>and</strong> documented 1 workshop with public sectorservice providers who use SLI services.
