1. Provision of accommodation and food services, and other normal tourist services<br />

(including trade of charcoal and wood for fire places for tourists to prevent<br />

logging and pruning of trees in the <strong>Park</strong>);<br />

2. Reconstruction, renovation and maintenance of existing, and construction of new<br />

buildings for the needs of tourism and park management;<br />

3. Building camp fires, sunbathing, sports games – at designated rest areas only;<br />

4. Development of specialized tourism routes (for plant, butterfly and bird watchers,<br />

sustainable forestry practices, geologists, mountain bikers and other special<br />

interests);<br />

5. Collection of wild fruits, mushrooms and medicinal plants for personal needs at<br />

designated and marked places.<br />

2.7.1 The High Visitor Use Sub-zone<br />

Background and rationale<br />

The sub-zone includes the region of the existing main entry point to the RMNP. Most<br />

of the transportation into the entire <strong>Park</strong> territory are served through this area. This<br />

necessitates the provision of professional services for the flow of tourists: reception,<br />

direction, and distribution of information, depending on visitor preferences and<br />

interests.<br />

Purpose<br />

To diversify the tourist experience, to provide visitors with adequate security and<br />

safety, food services, accommodation, parking facilities, information, attractions,<br />

sports and recreation facilities, whereby easing tourist pressure on all other <strong>Park</strong><br />

zones. To provide a possibility for deflecting and re-directing traditional secular<br />

activities and amusements outside and away from sites of religious significance.<br />

Description, physical and geographic characteristics<br />

The sub-zone comprises the riverside terraces along Rilska River and the lower<br />

portions of the slopes of the river valley: Eleshnitza, Pchelino and Brichebor<br />

localities. Part of the zone comprises the territory north and south of the Iliyna River,<br />

about 500m along the river in east direction. The total area of the sub-zone is 209.3<br />

ha.<br />

Regimes of the High Visitor Use Sub-zone<br />

All human activities and acts are strictly forbidden, with the exception of those as per<br />

Paragraph 1.1.1, the general regimes applied to the Tourist zone, and the following:<br />
