7. The National Energy Complex Dams and Cascades PLC, Blagoevgrad<br />

Branch, uses, monitors and supervises the water catchment facilities at<br />

Elevation 2000, and the Kalin and Malak Kalin dams. These facilities effect the<br />

deviation of river water into Belmeken-Sestrimo water cascade facility, as well as<br />

into the <strong>Rila</strong> group of hydroelectric plants. The monitoring stations have between<br />

themselves a staff of 12.<br />

8. The Regional Road Administration, Dupnitsa, is obligated by law to maintain in<br />

good operational order, to clear and clean the road connecting <strong>Rila</strong> <strong>Monastery</strong> to<br />

the national road grid. The length of this road within the <strong>Park</strong> territory is 17 km,<br />

starting at Brichebor locality and ending at Kirilova Polyana. One worker of the<br />

regional road administration is responsible for maintaining that stretch of road.<br />

Other stakeholders<br />

1. The Dupnitsa-based Rilski Ezera Tourism Society is responsible for maintaining<br />

the permanent winter and summer marking and signposting of the tourist routes<br />

accessing the <strong>Park</strong> from the direction of the Ivan Vazov and Sedemte Ezera<br />

Chalets. The Society employs no permanent staff within the <strong>Park</strong> territory.<br />

2. <strong>Rila</strong>les PLC, Dupnitza, a joint public-cum-private company, fully licensed for<br />

logging, afforestation and other forestry activities, also engaged in fish-farming<br />

and other activities.<br />

3. The Recreational Facilities Enterprise in the town of Sapareva Banya<br />

manages the Ribni Ezera chalet, together with the adjoining buildings and<br />

bungalows, a small ski-lift, Yavora tourist lodge, offering food and<br />

accommodation to tourists. The facilities are opened from April to the beginning<br />

of October. The Enterprise employs five workers within the <strong>Park</strong> territory: three<br />

at Ribni Ezera Chalet and two at Yavora tourist lodge.<br />

4. The Mountain Rescue Service, Blagoevgrad, is assigned to carry out, wherever<br />

necessary, rescue operations in the entire territory of <strong>Rila</strong> Mountain. It employs<br />

no permanent representative within the territory of RMNP.<br />

5. The Hunting and Fishing Association, Dupnitsa, is engaged in fish farming on<br />

the Rilska River; the fish farm is located in Brichebor locality, at the point of<br />

confluence of the Rilska and Iliyna Rivers. One person manages the fish farm on<br />

concession; however, the Hunting and Fishing Association employs no permanent<br />

representative in the territory of RMNP.<br />

6. Granitoid Ltd., a Sofia-based private company engaged in husbanding and<br />

operation of water catchment facilities, and in electricity generation. The<br />

company has an office in <strong>Rila</strong> town, which supervises its activities in the valley of<br />

the Rilska River.<br />

7. Owners and users of buildings and facilities in the territory of RMNP, as well<br />

as in the territory along Rilska River in the vicinity of the park. These are physical<br />

persons and legal entities, owners and users (concessionnaires) of recreational<br />

<strong>Rila</strong> <strong>Monastery</strong> <strong>Nature</strong> <strong>Park</strong><br />
