• Project: Involvement of NGOs, scientific research institutions, artists’ guilds and<br />

other organization in protecting and publicizing RMNP<br />

The Project envisions making an analysis of existing <strong>part</strong>nerships, identifying<br />

potential new <strong>part</strong>ners, defining the parameters of interaction with each of them, as<br />

well as concrete steps for collaboration with those most important.<br />

2.6.2 Program for providing economic incentives to local communities<br />

• Project: Technical cooperation and encouragement of small businesses in the field<br />

of organic products and tourism in <strong>Rila</strong> and Kocherinovo municipalities<br />

Identifying suitable target groups and development of private entrepreneurship in the<br />

area surrounding the nature park; providing information about RMNP-related<br />

opportunities for development of small businesses, ecotourism, services etc.;<br />

organizing training courses, joint projects and other initiatives in support of business<br />

activities in the gateway communities in conformity with the management objectives<br />

of RMNP.<br />

2.7 <strong>Park</strong> management and infrastructure<br />

2.7.1 Fire control program<br />

• Project: Fire prevention<br />

Development, approval by the competent authorities, and practical implementation of<br />

a set of activities aimed at minimizing the fire hazard in both the urbanized sections<br />

of the <strong>Park</strong> and its natural territories. The proposed measures should include a system<br />

of advising visitors about the fire regulations, safety precautions at high-risk places,<br />

enforcement of fire prevention requirements, etc. The specialized portion of this<br />

Project comprises the Fire Control <strong>Plan</strong> for Forests in the <strong>Park</strong>, which is the subject of<br />

a separate project.<br />

• Project: Fire control and fire-fighting equipment<br />

This envisions the actual provision of the required manpower, warning system, water<br />

sources, fire-control facilities and equipment for the entire <strong>Park</strong> territory in a way that<br />

would ensure proper and effective action in an emergency at any point throughout the<br />

<strong>Park</strong>.<br />

2.7.2 Law enforcement program<br />

• Project: Legal awareness and provision of information<br />

Training of <strong>Park</strong> personnel and other law enforcement agencies (police, National Fire<br />

and Emergency Service, <strong>Rila</strong> National <strong>Park</strong> staff, etc.) in the basics of the applicable<br />

<strong>Rila</strong> <strong>Monastery</strong> <strong>Nature</strong> <strong>Park</strong><br />
