But the question, How long to t.he end ofthese wonders? means to the end of the reign of thebeast, which the world wondered after. Rev. xiii. 37th "verse, And I heard the man clothed in linen,which was upon the waters of the river, when he heldup-his right hand and his left hand unto heaven." Thislanguage shows us plainly, that it, is the same angelwhich ohn saw in Rev. x. i. 1-7. And the same timeis indicated in Revelation as in Daniel. Here inDaniel it is in the last 45 years, and in Revelationimmediately preceding the time when the mystery ofGod shall be finished, all that had been declared by hisservants, the prophets, the whole prophecies would beaccomplished. "And swareby him that liveth forever,that it shall be for atime, times, and a. halil" This isthe samelength of time given in Daniel 'vii. 25, whichis there given as the reign of the little horn. It is alsothe same time which is given in Rev. xi. 2.Forty-twomonths, (three years and a halt,) to give the holy city tobe trodden under foot. Again, the same time is given,Rev. xi. 3, for the two witnesses to prophesy, clothed insackcloth, 1260 days. Also, Rev. xii. 6, 14, for thechurch in the wilderness, and, in Rev. xiii. 5,where the anti-Christian beast ha his delegatedto continue forty-two months. All these times ensowered inA. D. 1798, as we may! hereafter show; when the 45years began to accomp 'sh the things which I have beenattending to in this lecture. "And when he shall haveaccomplished tn scatter the power of the holy people,nll these things shall be finished."This brings us dovm to our text, and givesus anotherimportant and conclusive sign by which we may knowwe live on the eve of finishing the prophecies, and onthe threshold of the immortal and eternal state. Let ube wise, then, and secure an interest in the inheritanceamong the just, that when we fail on earth, we may bereceived into everlasting habitations prepared for thosewho love Christ.
