|20 Lscruu vm.view the object and design of God in sending this judgmentor scourge the men who have not the seal ofuylronGod on their tore eads; the anti-Christian beast, whopmfess to be Christians, but are not; when we comparethe history ot' those times with the Elrophecy-we havebeen examining, and the events w 'ch have transpiredconcerning the Ottoman empire, with the descriptivecharacter given of them in this prophecy,-we cannot, Ithink, hesitate for a moment to apply the fulfilment ofthis trumpet and woe, to these events, time, and place ; andmust be lcd to admire the agreement between the prophecyand fuliilment, and to believe this book of Revelationto be indited by the unerring wisdom of the DivineSpirit; for no human forethought could have so exactlydescribed these events, dress, manners, customs, andmode ot' warfare 1200 years beforehand, except the wisdomof God had assisted him. And if these things arerevealed by God himself unto us, surelyno one will dareto say that it is non-essential whether we believe thispart oi' the revealed will of God or not. Shall Godspeak and man disregard it? By the soundingof the trumpet, I understand the commencing of thosejudgments which were to be poured out upon the earthunder this trumpet; and by the "voice from the fourhoms of the golden altar," the agreement of all the pow.ers of heaven and earth to execute the design of God inthis thing. By loosing the four angels which are boundin the great river I understand that God wasnow about to suffer Eutghrates, e four principal nations of whichthe Ottoman empire was composed, which had in vain
