_60 curcuiut witness.--when he will come in flaming tire, to takevengeance on them who obey not thegospel, and destroy them who cry peace andsafety.We warn you against these false teachers,who mind earthly things. Theyare deceivingyou by the traditions of men; theytell you that the world is growing better qidbetter, while the truth is, the world is as itwas in the days of Noah, waxingworse andworse. They tell you that all sects will beone, and will seeeye to eye; but the factsin the caseare, that the old sects are dividing,and new ones are risingto an alarmingextent. And they must acknowledgethat, to all appearance, their temporal millenniumis receding rather than advancing;confusion and anarchyare now in the ranksof all sects, and disunion and division havebroken the bonds and removed the mostancient landmarks among them.Why will not men open their eyes? Howtrue it is that the god of this world hasblinded their eyes! Men are determined toin this world. Godhave their great blessingshas determined we shall be "strangers andpilgrims" here, and receive our "evilthings" in this world, but in the world tocomeeverlasting life. On the other lmnd,the worldly-minded man will receive hisgood things in this life, and in that which isto come, his "evil things." God will beJustilied in his people, and glorified in allthem that believe.
