Brief description <strong>of</strong> the paper, including a statement <strong>of</strong> relevance to the <strong>University</strong>'s<br />
strategic plans <strong>and</strong> priorities<br />
The paper sets out proposals for the quality framework that will apply to <strong>Edinburgh</strong><br />
College <strong>of</strong> Art disciplines following its merger with the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Edinburgh</strong> on 1<br />
August 2011.<br />

Resource implications<br />
Does the paper have resource implications? There is a cost implication in terms <strong>of</strong> an<br />
increase in the number <strong>of</strong> fees paid to external <strong>and</strong> student members <strong>of</strong> review<br />
teams. Apart from this the impact in the increased number <strong>of</strong> reviews will be<br />
absorbed by existing <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Edinburgh</strong> structures, namely the administration <strong>of</strong><br />
the process through Registry Academic Services <strong>and</strong> the College <strong>of</strong> Humanities <strong>and</strong><br />
Social Sciences Office, <strong>and</strong> an increase in the number <strong>of</strong> academic staff <strong>and</strong><br />
students required on a periodic basis for review teams.<br />
