ECA Merger: Quality Framework & Internal Subject Review
Brief description of the paper, including a statement of relevance to the University's
strategic plans and priorities
The paper sets out proposals for the quality framework that will apply to Edinburgh
College of Art disciplines following its merger with the University of Edinburgh on 1
August 2011.

Resource implications
Does the paper have resource implications? There is a cost implication in terms of an
increase in the number of fees paid to external and student members of review
teams. Apart from this the impact in the increased number of reviews will be
absorbed by existing University of Edinburgh structures, namely the administration of
the process through Registry Academic Services and the College of Humanities and
Social Sciences Office, and an increase in the number of academic staff and
students required on a periodic basis for review teams.

that quality assurance processes are applied consistently across the University.
