3.5 No Review under the auspices <strong>of</strong> QAC (web link to flowcharts)<br />

3.5.1 Decision rule<br />

When a Student Support Service is a front facing service <strong>and</strong>/or is subject to<br />

review by other methods, i.e. within the Internal Subject Reviews or by its in<br />

relation to its impact on the work <strong>of</strong> other Student Support Services which are<br />

part <strong>of</strong> the SSSQAF or is not within the authority <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Edinburgh</strong> or reports within the jurisdiction <strong>of</strong> the Colleges/Schools quality<br />

assurance procedures.<br />

4. Review Schedule for Student Support Services (web link to<br />

The Review Schedule has been set from A/Y 2011/12 to 2016/17. The<br />

document sets out which type <strong>of</strong> review is to take place <strong>and</strong> the year in which<br />

it is to take place.<br />

5. Quality Assurance Committee Sub-committee for SSSQAF (web<br />

link to flowcharts)<br />

5.1 Purpose <strong>and</strong> role<br />

The QAC Sub-committee, with delegated authority from QAC, is responsible<br />

for the operational oversight <strong>of</strong> the SSSQAF.<br />

It reports an overview <strong>of</strong> its findings to the Quality Assurance Committee<br />

including commendation <strong>and</strong> recommendations.<br />

5.2 Remit:<br />

• To monitor <strong>and</strong> review the quality <strong>of</strong> the Student Support Services by<br />

consideration <strong>of</strong> Annual Quality Assurance <strong>and</strong> Accreditation Reports <strong>and</strong><br />

Periodic Enhanced <strong>and</strong> Thematic Review findings.<br />

• To make commendations regarding areas <strong>of</strong> good practice <strong>and</strong> to<br />

disseminate this good practice arising from reports <strong>and</strong> reviews.<br />

• To make recommendations aimed at enhancing the student experience<br />

as appropriate.<br />

• To ensure that the procedures <strong>and</strong> process <strong>of</strong> the SSSQAF remain fit for<br />

purpose.<br />

5.3 Governance:<br />

• The Sub-committee will act with authority, as delegated by QAC, in order<br />

to monitor <strong>and</strong> review the quality assurance <strong>of</strong> Student Support Services<br />

in relation to the student learning experience.<br />

• The Sub-committee will report on an annual basis to the Quality<br />

Assurance Committee the outcomes from monitoring <strong>and</strong> review<br />

processes.<br />

5.4 Composition <strong>of</strong> Sub-committee:<br />

• The <strong>University</strong> Secretary<br />

• Convener: The Convener <strong>of</strong> QAC or her delegate<br />

• Vice-Convener: one <strong>of</strong> the Associate Deans for Quality <strong>and</strong> the Director <strong>of</strong><br />

Quality Assurance CMVM<br />

• Associate Deans for Quality Assurance CHSS, CSE <strong>and</strong> Director <strong>of</strong><br />

Quality Assurance CMVM<br />

• EUSA nominee
