The category <strong>of</strong> review carried out will depend on the impact <strong>of</strong> the Student Support<br />

Service on the student learning experience as determined by a set <strong>of</strong> decision rules.<br />

QAC determines which review method is applied to which Student Support Service.<br />

The QAC Sub-committee may recommend to QAC that any <strong>of</strong> the Student Support<br />

Services for a Periodic Enhanced Review.<br />

3.1 Annual Quality Assurance (QA) Report (web link to flowcharts <strong>and</strong><br />

template)<br />

The Annual (QA) Report is a self-evaluation report which is an evidencebased<br />

appraisal <strong>of</strong> the Student Support Service <strong>and</strong> the effectiveness <strong>of</strong> its<br />

approach in a number <strong>of</strong> key areas rather than a description <strong>of</strong> the services<br />

provided.<br />

3.1.2 Decision rule<br />

When the Student Support Service is a front facing service <strong>and</strong> it is an<br />

elective service with little direct impact on the overall student learning<br />

experience, it falls into this category.<br />

3.1.3 Student Support Services in this category:<br />

• All Student Support Services are reviewed by Annual (QA) Reports on an<br />

annual basis.<br />

The following Student Support Services are reviewed by Annual (QA) Reports<br />

on a regular basis, however, it is possible that they may be included in a<br />

Periodic Enhanced Review on a five year cycle.<br />

• Academic Registry with particular emphasis on Student Centre, Student<br />

Appeals, Complaints <strong>and</strong> Discipline Services <strong>and</strong> Student Finance <strong>and</strong><br />

Loans Service<br />

• Advice Place<br />

• Centre for Sport <strong>and</strong> Exercise<br />

• Chaplaincy<br />

3.2 Accreditation Review (web link to flowcharts)<br />

It is at the discretion <strong>of</strong> the QAC Sub-committee to approve how appropriate<br />

the contents <strong>of</strong> the Accreditation Report are for <strong>University</strong> quality assurance<br />

purposes.<br />

In addition to the Annual (QA) Report (see section 3.1), the Student Support<br />

Service submits an Accreditation Report. The Accreditation Report should<br />

include a clear outline on how the recommendations <strong>of</strong> the PSRB are to be<br />

taken forward.<br />

3.2.1 Decision rule<br />

When the Student Support Service is a front facing service <strong>and</strong> has a<br />

significant impact on the student learning experience <strong>and</strong> it is<br />

accredited/recognised by a pr<strong>of</strong>essional, statutory or regulatory body, QAC<br />

may agree to a Student Support Service Accreditation Review. If QAC
