Student Support Service Quality Assurance Framework (SSSQAF)<br />
Guidance<br />
Brief description <strong>of</strong> the paper, including a statement <strong>of</strong> relevance to the <strong>University</strong>'s<br />
strategic plans <strong>and</strong> priorities<br />
The paper outlines the Guidance to Student Support Services (Services) regarding<br />
the SSSQAF. Flow charts will be used to ease navigation through the Guidance<br />
detail. It will be available on-line on the Quality web pages <strong>of</strong> Academic Services<br />
<strong>and</strong> in printable pdf format. The Guidance will be reviewed on an annual basis as<br />
the new framework is embedded into the quality assurance processes.<br />
The SSSQAF underpins the <strong>University</strong>’s commitment to Quality Services. Giving<br />
assurance that the quality <strong>of</strong> monitoring processes within the Services is<br />
fundamental to the delivery <strong>of</strong> a good student experience.<br />

Resource implications<br />
Does the paper have resource implications? Yes – the paper outlines the<br />
procedures for the new QAC Sub-committee, Periodic Enhanced Review Panel Visits<br />
<strong>and</strong> Thematic Reviews. The new framework has both financial <strong>and</strong> staff time<br />
resource implications. The financial costs were estimated by the Task Group in<br />
2009/10 as approximately £2,000 per review. The ‘hidden costs’ <strong>of</strong> Review in terms<br />
<strong>of</strong> staff time <strong>and</strong> effort should also be noted.<br />
