Guidance
Brief description of the paper, including a statement of relevance to the University's
strategic plans and priorities
The paper outlines the Guidance to Student Support Services (Services) regarding
the SSSQAF. Flow charts will be used to ease navigation through the Guidance
detail. It will be available on-line on the Quality web pages of Academic Services
and in printable pdf format. The Guidance will be reviewed on an annual basis as
the new framework is embedded into the quality assurance processes.
The SSSQAF underpins the University’s commitment to Quality Services. Giving
assurance that the quality of monitoring processes within the Services is
fundamental to the delivery of a good student experience.

Resource implications
Does the paper have resource implications? Yes – the paper outlines the
procedures for the new QAC Sub-committee, Periodic Enhanced Review Panel Visits
and Thematic Reviews. The new framework has both financial and staff time
resource implications. The financial costs were estimated by the Task Group in
2009/10 as approximately £2,000 per review. The ‘hidden costs’ of Review in terms
of staff time and effort should also be noted.
