Quality Assurance Committee. The task group’s remit includes the production of
template memoranda of agreement and understanding, together with guidance, for
all of the University’s collaborative agreements. The task group report is considered
by the Committee elsewhere on its agenda for the meeting of 25 May 2011. It is
expected that the resulting University of Edinburgh procedures and documentation
will be applicable to ECA provision, given their grounding in the QAA’s Code of
Practice (Section 2: Collaborative provision and flexible and distributed learning).
Teachability
‘Teachability’ refers to ensuring that the curriculum is accessible for disabled
students. The Teachability task group of Senate Quality Assurance Committee aims
to ensure that the University’s policy and practice in Teachability align with the
Quality Assurance Agency’s Code of Practice (Section 3: Disabled Students) and
the outputs of the national Teachability project; that accessibility of the curriculum is
embedded and mainstreamed throughout the University’s provision, and that
equality is mainstreamed to ensure that all disabled students admitted to the
University can participate fully in their course of study and in University life. The task
group will produce University-level principles for accessible learning, designed to be
applicable to the very wide range of disciplines within the University. In due course,
the new ECA would need to ensure that its provision takes account of these
principles.
