Champions en titre de la coupe Stanley, les Canadiens ont
perdu plusieurs joueurs en raison du conflit mondial, qui
sévit en Europe. Howard McNamara, Goldie Prodger,
Amos Arbour et Skene Ronan sont absents, mais les
Canadiens ont confiance avec un gain de 8 à 4 dans le
premier match. Ils s’inclineront dans les trois matchs
suivants devant Seattle qui devient ainsi la première

The Canadiens and the Senators, as winners of the first and second
halves of the NHA split schedule, played a two-game total goals series to
determine a champion to face the PCHA Champions for the Stanley Cup.

sur la puissante équipe de Seattle qui s’appropriera les trois matchs
suivants au Seattle Ice Arena pour gagner la coupe Stanley.
The best-of-five series started well for the Canadiens with a 8-4 win over
the powerful Seattle team but the Metropolitans roared back with
three straight wins at the Seattle Ice Arena to win the Cup.

The war raging in Europe claims many players and the
Canadiens lose Howard McNamara, Goldie Prodger,
Amos Arbour and Skene Ronan who join the Canadian
Forces. Despite being shorthanded the Canadiens come out
of the first game on top with an 8-4 win. But their opponents
proved too powerful and Seattle would win the series and
become the first American team to win the Stanley Cup.
