Originaire de Montréal, au Québec, Jean-Jacques Daigneault a été nommé entraîneur adjoint le 15 juin
2012, effectuant ainsi un retour au sein de l’organisation avec laquelle il a passé six saisons et remporté
la coupe Stanley en 1993. Choisi au 10 e échelon par Vancouver en 1984, il s’était aligné avec l’équipe
nationale du Canada et les Chevaliers de Longueuil dans la LHJMQ. En trois saisons au hockey junior, il
a amassé 32 buts et un total de 126 points en 144 matchs, été sélectionné en première équipe d’étoiles
en 1982-1983 et remporté le trophée Émile-Bouchard à titre de défenseur par excellence du circuit. Avant
la séance de sélection, Daigneault a évolué avec l’équipe canadienne amassant 5 buts et 14 aides en
55 matchs, et la formation nationale junior, quatrième au championnat mondial de hockey junior, récoltant
deux points en sept matchs. Il a aussi pris part aux 14 e Jeux Olympiques d’hiver, à Sarajevo, récoltant un
but et une aide en sept rencontres.
La carrière de Jean-Jacques Daigneault au hockey professionnel s’étend sur 18 ans, dont 16 dans
la LNH avec 10 équipes, dont les Canadiens de Montréal. Entre 1984 et 2001, il a pris part à 899
rencontres avec les Canucks, Flyers, Canadiens, Blues, Penguins, Mighty Ducks, Islanders, Predators,
Coyotes et le Wild du Minnesota, inscrivant 53 buts et 197 aides. Il a aussi joué 99 matchs en séries
amassant 5 buts et 26 aides. Daigneault a également évolué à Hershey, Sherbrooke et Worcester
dans la Ligue américaine et joué une saison à Cleveland (IHL) en 2000-2001 avant de terminer sa
carrière dans le rôle de joueur-entraîneur avec Bienne, en Suisse en 2001-2002.
Âgé de 48 ans, Jean-Jacques Daigneault a amorcé sa carrière d’entraîneur en 2005-2006 comme
adjoint avec les Roadrunners de Phoenix dans l’ECHL, tout en cumulant les fonctions de directeur du
développement des joueurs. En 2007-2008, il se joignait au Wolf Pack de Hartford comme entraîneur
adjoint, poste qu’il a occupé durant cinq saisons, menant l’équipe à une participation aux séries de la
coupe Calder à chaque saison.

Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Jean-Jacques Daigneault was named assistant coach of
the Montreal Canadiens on June 15, 2012. He is entering his second season behind the bench of the
team he played for during six seasons and won the Stanley Cup with in 1993. Selected in the first
round, 10 th overall, by Vancouver in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft, he suited up with the QMJHL Longueuil
Chevaliers recording 32 goals and 126 points in 144 games, earning a selection on the First All-Star
Team and the Émile Bouchard Award as the QMJHL Top Defenseman in 1982-83. In the months leading
up to the draft, Daigneault played for Canada’s National Team, recording 5 goals and 15 assists in 55
games, and the National Junior Team finishing fourth at the 1984 WJHC, where he tallied two points
in seven games. He then played for Canada at the 14 th Olympic Winter Games in Sarajevo recording
a goal and an assist in seven match-ups.
Daigneault’s professional career spans 18 years, 16 of them at the NHL level. He played 899 games
with 10 teams between 1984 and 2001, including the Canucks, Flyers, Canadiens, Blues, Penguins,
Mighty Ducks, Islanders, Predators, Coyotes and Wild, tallying 53 goals and 197 helpers for 250 points.
He also skated in 99 playoff games amassing 5 goals and 26 assists. Daigneault also played with
Hershey, Sherbrooke and Worcester in the AHL and, in 2000-01, skated with Cleveland in the IHL. He
ended his playing career in 2001-02 as a player-coach with Biel in Switzerland’s division II league.
Now 48, Jean-Jacques Daigneault took on coaching in 2005-2006 with the ECHL’s Phoenix
Roadrunners as an assistant and as director of player personnel. In 2007-08, he joined the coaching
staff of the Hartford Wolf Pack, helping the team earn a playoff berth in each of his five seasons.
