COUPE STANLEY CUP # 7
Après s’être inclinés dans les deux premiers
matchs de la série, les Hawks de Chicago ont
rebondi avec trois gains consécutifs, mais Jacques
Plante allait calmer leurs ardeurs en inscrivant
un jeu blanc de 3 à 0 dans le sixième match. Les
Canadiens l’emporteront finalement grâce à un
gain de 4 à 1 dans le septième match. À ses deux
premiers matchs en finale de la Coupe Stanley,
Plante inscrit un gain et subit un revers avant
d’être remplacé par le vétéran Gerry McNeil, qui
blanchira les Bruins à deux reprises dans les trois
derniers matchs. Maurice Richard réussit un triplé
dans le quatrième match et donne aux siens une
victoire de 7 à 3, alors que dans le cinquième
match Elmer Lach marque le but qui donne la
coupe Stanley aux Canadiens à 1:22 de la première
période de prolongation.
After dropping the first two games in Montreal,
the Hawks roar back with three straight wins but
they are stonewalled in Game 6 by Jacques Plante
who blanks the Hawks 3-0. The Canadiens go
on to win the Semi-Finals with a 4-1 win in the
seventh and decisive game. After Jacques Plante
recorded a split decision in the first two games
he ever played in the Stanley Cup Final, he was
replaced by veteran Gerry McNeil who blanked
the Bruins in two of the last three games. Rocket
Richard recorded a hat trick in game 4 to lead the
Canadiens to a 7-3 win and Elmer Lach scored
the Cup-winning goal at 1:22 of overtime in the
fifth game.

Jacques Plante
Le 4 avril 1953, le gardien Jacques Plante devient
seulement le quatrième gardien-recrue dans l’histoire de
la LNH à inscrire un blanchissage à son premier match en
séries éliminatoires quand le Tricolore l’emporte 3 à 0 sur
Chicago en demi-finale. Maurice Richard mène le Tricolore
avec sept buts en séries suivi de Bernard Geoffrion avec six.
On April 4, 1953, the Canadiens’ Jacques Plante became
the fourth rookie goalie in NHL history to get a shutout in his
first career playoff game, when he led the Canadiens to a
3-0 win at Chicago in the semi-finals. Maurice Richard leads
all Habs in the playoffs with 7 goals followed by Bernard
Geoffrion with 6.
