GRAHAM RYNBEND
Graham Rynbend entame une 14 e saison au poste de thérapeute du sport en chef des Canadiens, après avoir
amorcé sa carrière dans l’organisation de 1997 à 2000. Avant de se joindre au personnel médical, Graham avait
passé trois saisons travaillant bénévolement pour acquérir de l’expérience, lui qui avait surtout travaillé au football
au terme de ses études. Titulaire d’un baccalauréat en sciences, spécialisation en thérapie du sport de l’Université
Concordia qu’il a obtenu en 1991, Graham a mérité son certificat de thérapeute du sport trois ans plus tard, en 1994.
Sa formation professionnelle comprend également un certificat spécialisé en conditionnement physique (CSCS). Avant
de travailler au sein de l’organisation des Canadiens, Graham, qui est âgé de 44 ans, a passé pendant deux saisons
au sein du personnel médical de la Machine de Montréal, dans la Ligue mondiale de football. Outre son implication
avec les équipes de sport professionnel, Graham a œuvré pendant cinq ans en pratique privée prodiguant des soins
au Centre de médecine sportive Concordia. Sur le plan professionnel, Graham est membre de l’Association canadienne
des thérapeutes du sport (ACTS), ainsi que de la Société des thérapeutes et du hockey professionnel (PHATS). Au sein
de cette dernière association, il fait partie du comité des rapports médicaux informatisés, et collabore étroitement à la
conception et à l’évolution d’un logiciel hautement spécialisé pour la gestion des dossiers médicaux. Graham a reçu le
prix du mérite CATA en 2000 en reconnaissance de son intervention exceptionnelle lors de la blessure cervicale subie par
Brian Savage lors d’un match à Los Angeles le 20 novembre 1999. Il a aussi été d’office pour un 1 000 e match en carrière

Graham Rynbend is entering his 14 th season as head athletic therapist with the Montreal Canadiens after being
assistant athletic therapist with the club from 1997 to 2000. Prior to officially joining the team, he spent three years
honing his professional skills working as a volunteer at all Canadiens home games. Graham Rynbend graduated from
Concordia University in 1991 with a Bachelor in Science, specialization in Athletic Therapy. After becoming a Certified
Athletic Therapist in 1994, he earned a certification as Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). Prior to working
for the Canadiens, the 44-year old Rynbend spent two seasons as a member of the medical staff with the Montreal
Machine of the World League of American Football. Before working with professional sports teams, he had five years
of private practice at the Concordia Sports Medicine Centre. Graham is a member of the Canadian Athletic Therapists
Association (CATA) and the Professional Hockey Athletic Trainers Society (PHATS), where he is part of the Electronic
Medical Reports committee responsible for the development and advancement of a customized software program
that has revolutionized medical file management in pro sports. Graham received the CATA’s Merit Award in 2000 in
recognition of his outstanding emergency service in dealing with Brian Savage’s neck fracture in a game in Los Angeles
