KAUFER<br />

Leopold <strong>Dr</strong> (Virje, Koprivnica, 7.3.1903 – ?)<br />

- Son of Salamon Kaufer and Rosa, maiden name Gross.<br />

Promoted on March 16th 1929 in Berlin, in a Doctor of Medicine.<br />

Married in Berlin on August 11th 1934 to Ilsa, maiden name Holdheim from Berlin.<br />

He was granted a citizenship in Koprivnica on April 24 th 1936 and became a citizen of<br />

the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.<br />

In the copy of the Commission for medical check-up of recruits and conscripts of the<br />

Military Attaché the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in Germany from March 3rd 1937, states that<br />

"Käufer <strong>Dr</strong> Leopold, son of Salamon and Rosa, residence in Berlin W. 30 Motzstrasse 38 / 1,<br />

had a medical check-up in Berlin (as a permanent resident in Germany since 1910), 157 cm<br />

high, the volume of 93/97 cm, permanently unfit for the army".<br />

By a Decision of the Ministry of Health NDH of September 4th1941, he was sent from<br />

Zagreb to work in the Institute for Control of Endemic Syphilis in Banja Luka as part time<br />

Doctor – Official.<br />

An Oath of loyalty to NDH he passed on November 11th 1942 in the Institute for<br />

Control of Endemic Syphilis in Banja Luka as the contractual official.<br />

Temporarily, by a contract of November 15th 1942, he worked at the Public Hospital<br />

Sarajevo. He lived in the same household with his wife Ilsa, who had no income. 1152<br />
