Lesson 2: A closer look 1<br />

I. Objectives:<br />

By the end of the lesson, students can:<br />

• use the lexical items related to the topic ‘My<br />

new school’<br />

• pronounce correctly the sounds /əʊ/ and /ʌ/ in<br />

isolation and in context<br />

• use the combinations: to study, to have, to do, to<br />

play + Noun<br />

II. Procedures: Các bước tiến hành<br />

Hoạt động 1: Warm-up (3 to 5 minutes)<br />

Phương án 1: Chơi trò chơi ‘Brainstorming’<br />

Luật chơi:<br />

• GV viết hai từ BREAKFAST và MATH lên bảng, yêu<br />

cầu HS lên viết tất cả các động từ đi với hai từ trên.<br />

Lời dẫn:<br />

– Today, you seem to be very happy. Let’s work your<br />

brain to make you happier, is it OK?<br />

– Now, every day, we do a lot of activities such as<br />

eating food or learning new subjects. So I would<br />

like you to list all the verbs which can go with these<br />

two words: BREAKFAST – MATH.<br />

Lời dẫn:<br />

– OK, boys and girls, time’s up. It’s time to show how<br />

rich your vocabulary is.<br />

– With ‘BREAKFAST’, the verbs that can go with are:<br />

HAVE – EAT – GET – COOK – PREPARE – MAKE –<br />

ENJOY, etc….<br />

– With ‘MATH’, the verbs that can go with are: HAVE<br />

– DO – STUDY – LEARN – SOLVE – LOVE – LIKE –<br />

HATE, etc…<br />

Phương án 2: Chơi trò chơi ‘Miming’<br />

Luật chơi:<br />

• GV nói nhỏ vào tai một học sinh một trong<br />

những hành động : play football, listen to music,<br />

skip rope, do exercises, do homework, eat noodles,<br />

drink water. Bạn đó biểu diễn hành động và hỏi<br />

cả lớp: What am I doing?<br />

• HS nào đoán đúng sẽ được chơi tiếp.<br />

Lời dẫn:<br />

– Now I will whisper something into your ear, you<br />

have to mime that action for your friends to guess<br />

what you are doing.<br />

– Who guesses correctly will have a chance to<br />

mime next.<br />

Hoạt động 2: Teaching new words (10 minutes)<br />

Lời dẫn:<br />

– Everyone, you have shown me that your<br />

vocabulary is quite rich, but now, let’s make it even<br />

richer by learning some more new words, alright?<br />

New words:<br />

1. physics (n): (visual)<br />

2. judo (n): (visual)<br />

3. school lunch (n.phr.): (visual)<br />

4. science (n): What does Isaac Newton or Albert<br />

Einstein do?<br />

(HS có thể trả lời bằng Tiếng Việt – Họ nghiên<br />

cứu khoa học)<br />

Checking technique:<br />

Phương án 1: Rub out and remember<br />

Phương án 2: What and Where<br />

Phương án 3: Slap the board<br />

Hoạt động 3: Practice (30 minutes)<br />
