WHERE IS IT? At Montreal Beach Resort, on Beach at Madison.
WHY SHOULD I GO? When the late, great Harry Hirsch opened
a restaurant 48 years ago at the Montreal, he knew the food had to
taste great and be reasonably priced. Service had to be courteous,
but relaxed. A place where you could pull up a chair and stay a while.
These values remain at Harry’s, which the Hirsch family named
after its patriarch. The eatery at the Montreal celebrated its 10th
anniversary in 2020 and has become a Cape May hot spot, offering
favorites like mouthwatering burgers and unbeatable seafood.
Harry’s also boasts a huge beer menu, with dozens of bottles
and 14 rotating draughts. No wonder it’s racked up the following
accolades — “One of the best places to drink outdoors” (Philadelphia
magazine); “Best Appetizers, Best Cocktails, Best Happy Hour”
(Best of Cape May Awards); “A Must-Visit Rooftop Bar” (New Jersey
Monthly magazine).
An expansive indoor/outdoor bar links an open-air dining room
and patio. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, with daily happy
hour from 4pm-6pm, Harry’s creates a laidback vibe perfect for its
oceanfront location.
Don’t want to stop the fun? Head to the rooftop bar for cocktails
and small bites while listening to great musicians and enjoying one of
the best views in Cape May. If you need to grab a bottle of wine on
the way out, stop at the Wine Cellar, located in the same building.
