WHY SHOULD I GO? This 1885 classic seafood and steak house<br />

is in <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>May</strong>’s DNA. It offers live piano music nightly and<br />

seasonal specialties, showcasing fresh, local catches. Newcomers<br />

discovering this gem for the first time and generations of those<br />

“coming home” are drawn by classics such as stuffed lobster tail<br />

and the Merion potato cup, its dress-up or dress-down relaxed<br />

ambiance, cozy candlelit dining rooms and mahogany bar — the<br />

oldest in <strong>Cape</strong> <strong>May</strong>, and the best place to get a martini, says<br />

Philadelphia magazine. In addition to classic cocktails, the Merion<br />

offers a reasonably priced, varied wine list, including offerings<br />

from local vineyards. A roster of talented pianists perform jazz<br />

standards and other favorites on the Steinway grand piano.<br />

INSIDER TIP In addition to nightly piano music, a weekly jazz<br />

trio performs Tuesdays (Thursdays in off-season). There’s an<br />

early diners’, three-course prix-fixe, plus an Express Menu is<br />

offered all night. A kids’ menu caters to the next generation of<br />

loyal diners.<br />
