WHERE IS IT? Directly behind the Cape May
Welcome Center and Cape May Station.
WHY SHOULD I GO? It’s a quirky, fun way to get
outside and enjoy the beauty of Cape May. Railbiking
with Revolution Rail Co., who, in partnership with
Cape May Seashore Lines, takes you on an outdoor
adventure on the historic railroad tracks that run
from the center of Cape May out to the Cape May
canal — all you need to do is pedal!
The round-trip excursion is a four-mile trip
with multiple stops along the way — guides provide
cool facts about the railroad, the ecology and the
Cape May canal. The railroad travels alongside the
Garrett Family Preserve where riders can explore
expansive native wildflowers meadows and flora,
plus experience world-class viewing opportunities
for migrating songbirds, raptors, bumblebees and
monarch butterflies. The trip stops at the Cape May
canal and riders get to watch boats go by as the
railbikes are spun around for the return trip back to
town. You never know what wildlife you may see on
this adventure. Every trip is different.
There are two-seat railbikes ($80) and four-seat
railbikes ($140). Each trip takes about two hours and
they run rain or shine. The leisurely pace makes it
accessible for all ages and ability levels. Revolution
Rail Co. provides a fun, educational experience great
for team building within a business or with family and
friends. Reservations are strongly encouraged and
are available at revrail.com.
