natali vineyards
Expertly made wine in a beautiful setting on Cape May County’s acclaimed wine trail!
HIGHLIGHTS
WHERE IS IT? A scenic 20-minute drive from Cape
May to Goshen, via rustic Route 47.
WHY SHOULD I GO? Secret’s out: The Cape May
peninsula, federally recognized as an American
Viticultural Area in 2018, is a wine-lover’s dream.
Our loamy soil combined with our climate makes
this an ideal place for the growing of vitis vinifera, or
European, wine grapes. This is the specialty of Natali
Vineyards’ owner/founder Alfred Natali.
As a history student at Columbia University, Al
completed dissertation research in France and Italy,
where his love affair began. Then, in 2000, after a
19-year career on Wall Street, he purchased a 22-acre
horse pasture in Goshen and began converting the
land into a bountiful vineyard.
This passion project has grown by leaps and
bounds since its launch — Natali added an airy, rusticmodern
tasting room to seat up to 50 people. Or,
if you prefer, relax outside on the lovely patio area,
overlooking the grounds as you sip.
Part of the reason Natali is so well-loved is that
customers can taste the care with which his grapes
are grown. As a vigneron — the French word for a
person who tends vines AND makes wine — Al is
hands-on at every stage. He studied his craft via
courses and workshops at Virginia Tech, Rutgers,
Penn State, the University of California (Davis) and
Cornell’s Research Station in Geneva, New York.
INSIDER TIP Natali now hosts five-course wine
pairing dinners with new chef Mark Kalla. And why
not schedule a cooking class with Chef Kalla for
groups of four or more — choose your own date and
menu!
Erotic Aronia
This blend of the Aronia
Berry, Chardonnay and
Trebbiano is super-high in
antioxidants. Smells fresh
with a hint of dried flowers,
and is savory in the mouth.
Take an adventure and try
Natali’s best-selling wine!
Rosé
It’s off-dry, so just a hint of
sugar. Pairs great with a
cobb salad and a beautiful
summer night.
Sauvignon Blanc
Aroma of mangoes and
a floral bouquet — a
refreshing drink at day’s
end. Goes well with shellfish
and the Jersey Shore!
Nonna’s Cucina
A Riesling that should be
served chilled. Try it with
any shellfish or chicken dish.
Cedar Hammock
Paying homage to the
Native Americans’ original
name for Goshen, this is a
blend of Cabernet Franc
and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Cabernet Sauvignon
Pepper notes on the nose,
spice on the palate and soft,
silky tannins. Perfect for red
meat or big pasta dishes.
Nonno’s Cellar
A three-grape blend, but we
can’t tell which three — it’s a
secret. At 14% alcohol, the
wine’s nickname — “Party in
a bottle” — is fitting.
