At the time this
picture was
taken, both the
Morning Star
Villa, on the left,
and Evening
Star Villa, on
the right, were
operated in
conjunction with
the Colonial
Hotel. The
Morning Star
and Evening Star
were moved to a
new property on
the eastern part
of Beach Avenue
by Reverend
Carl McIntire in
the 1960s, after
they were slated
for demolition
by the owners
of the Lafayette
Hotel, who
sought to use
the land for a
parking lot. The
Weightman
Cottages, visible
on the far left
of the picture,
were also moved
by Reverend
McIntire and are
now operated
as the Angel of
the Sea bed and
breakfast. The
Evening Star
has since been
demolished and
the Colonial is
now The Inn of
Cape May.
